What is sauntering? To saunter is to go on a slow, unhurried, casual stroll with God and others who Love Jesus. The Sauntering House provides a loving and safe environment for men who desire to overcome addiction.
Every man in our community has a mentor who walks beside them. We have written a curriculum, The LIFE Sauntering Experience, to guide learning how to Saunter with God.
We have written a Biblically-based relapse prevention program for people coming out of addiction. The curriculum weaves cognitive development with Biblical truth.
Each man in our community will sit down one-on-one with a counselor weekly. In these sessions, men get in-depth insight and help as they learn to navigate these perilous times.
Sunday Evenings at 5 pm, we conduct a Bible Study at Family Worship Center in Hayden. The address is 697 W Dakota Ave. Everyone is invited!
Everyone brings a dish to Bible Study every third Sunday of the month.

Nothing enables us to block out the world's noise better than getting away for a few days. Several times during the year, we take our men on retreats for concentrated times with Christ and each other. And we provide some retreats for everyone as well.
Addiction is a family problem. Therefore, families are encouraged to participate in our Bible Study, potlucks, retreats, and other activities. We also make visits to the families of our men. Soon, we hope to begin a family support group.
How can we not take advantage of the natural beauty of north Idaho? The mountains, the streams, and the lakes are too numerous to mention. As the weather allows, we involve our guys and anyone who would like to go hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, fishing, and camping.
1. As a Resident of The Sauntering House
The Sauntering House is a residential aftercare house for men breaking free from the bonds of drug and alcohol addiction. Residents participate in every community aspect - Mentoring, weekly one-on-ones, relapse prevention, and Bible study. And for the first 30 days, residents also participate in other weekly activities like small groups and local church meetings.
2. As an Out-of-Resident Participant
Men do not have to be residents to be involved in our aftercare community. Full participation in our mentoring, one-on-ones, relapse prevention classes, and Bible study is required for each man in recovery. Also, weekly activities, like small groups and local church meetings, will be required for the first 30 days in the community.
3. Family Members
Drugs and alcohol do not only profoundly impact individuals. Addiction is a family problem. We support our men's wives, children, parents, and siblings.
4. Anyone!
Our Community Bible Study, Pot Lucks, and Retreats are open to anyone. These outreach events allow us to get our message out to more people.
1. Come to the Bible Study or a Pot Luck.
The best way to learn more about us is to meet us at one of these events. Come and eat dinner with us. Hear testimonies. Participate in the Bible Study.
